A simple cacao ritual

  1. Make your cup slowly — warm the milk or water, whisk, and let the smell reach you before the taste does.

  2. Put your phone away. Sit somewhere you like.

  3. Take the first few sips without doing anything else.

  4. Set a small intention. Notice where you’re standing.

That’s the whole practice.

Hands around the cup
Finely chop your chosen dose of cacao (see the dosage guide on the cacao page). Add to 200 ml of hot (not boiling) water or plant-based milk and whisk until frothy. Add spices to taste — a teaspoon of honey for a sweeter cup, a pinch of cinnamon for warmth. Oat, almond or other plant milks work best; we don’t recommend soy, as its higher protein content thickens the cacao quickly.

A blue lotus evening

1–2 flowers250 ml hot water5–10 minutes
  1. Pour 250 ml of hot water over one or two whole flowers.

  2. Let it steep for five to ten minutes, then strain.

  3. Put your phone away. Sit somewhere you like.

  4. Sip slowly, warm or chilled. There’s nothing else to do.

Steep gently — this is a slow tea, not a strong one.

Preparing itAdd 1–2 flowers to 250 ml of hot water, steep 5–10 minutes and strain. Serve warm or chilled — or pour it into warm plant milk for a blue lotus latte. To share, steep one or two flowers per cup in a teapot and pour for everyone. Do not exceed the recommended amount. Not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding or for children.
